We were pushing our office chairs over the broken sidewalk pavement when we knew the project was going to be a success. The sides of our hands glistened with fresh pencil graphite; our fingers were stained with dry-erase marker ink. The morning’s intense design session felt like gonzo journalism of the 70’s. And we had a feeling once we added layers of pixels, code, and scripts, our work was bound to have a lasting influence on future generations of online experiences. Although one of us had hundreds of training miles to run, and another had an Acadian honeymoon to finalize, it didn’t stop us from sharing the project’s day-to-day progress with our higher-ups. We hope that project’s narrative, like so many others in our collective past, is why we are talking with you today.
